216mph in the standing mile, full interior, 4 seater, no cage, no tubbed rear, etc...
1963 Pontiac.
Proper budget build too, ancient twin second hand Holsets mounted by the rear axle (that he doesnt even know a comp map for, just went down the scrapyard and pulled a couple off old trucks), etc.

Enginebay is the best, wouldnt even know its turbo, never mind about 1700bhp...

Built with second hand 75quid Holsets off earth movers, ebay wastegates, and random bits of pipe and shit, badass.

Lots of Power needed to do that, so I believe the horses. The mile record for a street car is 228mph which is almost unbelievable. may see 204 in the mile from mine, but nowhere near enough Power to worry that car

.
P.s. I just re read my orignal post and realised it could be taken badly. I wasn't questioning your car or trying to start an argument or anything I know you've got alot of calculations and theories for this sort of stuff so I'm genuinely interested to hear your input in these kinds of threads
Main point that impresses me about this car is not the fact he did the speed, throw enough money at something and can do whatever speed you like.
Its the fact he hasnt thrown money on it, its a second hand random parts special, just a lot of clever thought put in to it.

the first race in this vid of it cracks me up, lights up the wheels and just accelerates past

Held on the runways of a small regional airport in Goliad, Texas every October, the legendary event simply involves a standing mile with a set of speed traps at the end. The fastest speed recorded wins.
His awesome street-legal 3.4 litre, Toyota Supra, GT4718 turbo, was clocked at 228.7 mph

My own car I calculate would require another 450bhp to beat that 228mph, probably more because of the much longer gearing it would require to pull, anyone got a 1500bhp Cossie we can try, these feats are on a different planet.

rod that vid isn public so we cant watch it
i like the fact it looks crap & respect the bloke for his thinking round problems instead of throwing ŁŁŁŁ at it
never underestimate the shitter at the lights lol

No replacement for displacement, making about 30% more power than Rod with 400% more engine
Very cool though, thats not meant as a diss, its just pointing out its a lot easier to get big power from big engines than from little tiny 2 litre ones.

What crank does it use for example?
Im assuming its not a standard one as my mate snaps standard BBC ones like a tooth pick at less power levels than that.
I actually find Rod's car quite impressive personally, anyone pushing the boundaries of a given engine power wise I find impressive
but if it's snaping engine bits like toothpicks then they are going to be reletivly easy to replace too chip
they made millions of them V8's of every concevable shape and size so if he's got a 9 litre engine that's still only make shy of 200 brake per litre which is the equivalent to a 400 brake cossie
then again, they make 6000 brake cars that last for 10 seconds so it's not the extreme example of over engineering is it

Got any links to details of how it was done then, if thats the impressive bit?

Rods car IS impressive, any car thats that fast is, but all it takes is money when going down the conventional route, but to ME this is more impressive, as its not been about money, and its been about just doing the same sort of thing everyone does for this sort of performance.
