Default No speedo?

As above, i`m trying to fix my mates car. The speedo don`t work at all so i took the clocks out and the cable is connected properly. So i`ve checked the cable by putting a cordless drill on the gearbox end of the cable, and it works. Just doesn`t work when attached to the gearbox...

Anyone know what the problam could be...?

Many thanks, Ed.

mate, I had this once, the cable goes into a plastic think on the box iirc, this can wear like to an apple core shape so isn't getting contact and so not turning the cable when driving.

There is some sort of pin to pull out and then retract this plastic cylinder thing out and change it.

Worked on mine, can be a b*stard to get that cyclinder out.
