right on my rst the alternator light is but the car starts and runs fine dosn't try to bog out stereo, lights, windows etc all fine work ok (been like this 3 months maybe)

cant understand it

any one fixed similar problems

 

you seen if its putting the right amount into the battery?

 

Had this on my XR3i. the car went the opposite, if the battery light was on the battery was charging, if the light went out my lights would dim and the car would die!
got a 2nd hand one from the breakers for £15 and everything was back to normal.

 

battery light should come on with ignition on, i was told that if the battery light doesnt come on charging will not commnce,
i had the same thing i took the loom from the battery to starter to alternator out, gave this a good clean, made sure all connectors were proper.hopefully that should sort it

 

as rst230bhp siad or it could be a broken wire, all so cheak the 10amp fuse for the brake lights make sure the contacts are clean, mine done it toke month to work out and it turned out to be that

 

cheers lads ive not looked into it at all yet as everythings working im gonna get the alt reconed as its not enpensive and might make up a new loom for it
