Gear stick
is very loos it feels, 5 speed box. when u put it in reverse its almost out the drivers door!
is that the linkage?

yeah theres a kit u can fit to make it tighter then a virgin again,they normally pop up on egay

The gear change mechanism usually wears in RSTs in so many places that it's cheaper to buy a complete new Puma shifter than separate spares from Ford.

Puma shifter? As in form a Ford Puma, do they fit straight on?

Yes, from a Puma. Fitting is rather straight forward. It doesn't use the four holes for securing, but has a bracket in the back of the casing.
