Bugger!



anbody know where/who can replace my REAR screen in the sierra? ideally come out and fit it tomorrow?

rear screens are pushin fit rather than bonded in, right?

Correct, they are bonded mate. Good luck finding someone to do it. How did it happen?

 

Bonded as said. Most windscreen replacement companies could get the glass by 2morrow, the bigger ones will most likely be booked up for Saturday appointments tho. I know my place doesn't keep those hotlines in stock, but we could get one no problem...

 

RAC did mine on saturday morning i rang arond this time too

came home from work and it has been smashed. no idea how. no bricks or stones inside. nothing hs been moved inc radio face in glove box ans computer stuff on pass seat. seems like either some freak accident? fuck knows how. or yobs. no other damage - door locks fine...

autoglass can do sunday. Ł463 - discounted to 330 inc vat.... i can keep it in the garage at work til then. it has to leave the garage sun night tho.....

thrush - whats your thoughts on this?

Ouch at the price - tho I am not surprised, I work for AG's and they aren't cheap when it comes to non-insurance work.... You're better off with a local company to be honest, or approaching a fitter at the bigger companies like RAC's and AG's and seeing if they want it as a private.... Tho TBH, I doubt many will as the whaletail on a Sierra Cos is often a put-off......

And I feel sorry for whoever fitted Ben's hotline - Saffs are a SLAG to do (poxy c pillar outer trims )

ben - snap! same as mine! just called rac they quote 180.. if they have one! waiting for a call back... need it done by end of sun really.... nowhere to keep it...

thrush - i don't have the time for a local one sadly... called loads but as you d expect. nobody has one....

Rob, the rac kept ringing me saying that they were waiting to here back from suppliers, wasnt untill saturday moring when they rang to say they had one, they were here 2 hours later but it may be different for the 3 door as its brown isnt it? difernt to none cosworth models?

These guys are a glass supplier only, don't do fitting, just sell glass, to both trade and public. Branches in Walthamstow (E17) and Park Royal (NW10)

Worth giving them a ring, I'd be almost positive that the Walthamstow branch will have them instock, and worth seeing what price. Also you can then ask them to recommend you a fitter, as they know all the local guys as they trot in and out day in day out.... Might be quick, and possibly cheaper that way.... Get your own glass, and ask for a fit only, or get a local guy to do it, as he'll no doubt get discount off the "street" price from Masters.....

hi rob..
i work for rac here in ireland..should be no problem getting that fitted sometime tomorrow by one of your local depots..there will be fitters working all day..if you haven't heard by now call 0800 919 700 and chase it up..call centre will leave a jobsheet for your local centre to call you 1st thing in morning..hope you get sorted mate.

they were trying to find out if they have the screen in stock. they said it should be within the hour. i called them at 8 so i ll give it a bit and see if they have found one. cheers for the tip - i ll buzz them if i dont hear.

 

no worries mate..if they do not have the screen in stock there are other avenues they can use to get hold of it at very short notice....outside suppliers..good luck

RAC can't get one til end of the week.... and i ve nowhere to keep the car...

autoglass are now saying Ł400 for sunday.....

i might try your place thrush... then see if somebody could fit it for me..hmmmmm

 

Yeah, prices are always jacked for Sundays and Bank Holidays as they go into "out of hours" charging - technically, they should apply this charge from 12midday on Saturday, but most don't bother......

I'm not sure how far you are from from either of those two branches of Master Auto Glass I mentioned, but worth giving em a rng and seeing if they have one in stock, then maybe popping down there and hanging around for a little and asking a fitter that will undoubtledly be going there to get glass, if they want to do it....

Or, I know the guy that owns this company - http://www.firstcallwindscreens.com - he used to work for Master Auto Glass, and now runs his own fitting company. They are in Park Royal, not sure how far that is from you, but cover all of London, and probably be able to do your area (still don't know where that is mind ) He also has a bit of clout at Master Auto Glass so will probably be able to get it the cheapest....

See if they can help you, and if they can, tell em Matt from Autoglass in Walthamstow sent you - might help, you never know
