Looking at a hi lux 2.4d tomorrow, 116k on the clock, looks decent nick, just wondered what i should look for??

 

They are as hard as coffin nails mate

 

i used to work on toyota for over 2 years. The only things that went wrong on them was the rear leaf springs used to crack/snap the spider joints/uj,s used to wear out and the pistons in the front calipers used to seize also the discs used to score badly. Apart from that they were ok.

 

Funnily enough I was watching Dave this afternoon when they were trying to break their Hilux.

my old mans got a 3.0ltr td and its hard as,never needs nowt come mot time

 

top gear had one and couldnt kill it didnt they but supposed to be really reliable

 

just watched the top gear where they tried to kill one

there hard as fuck

 

The 2.4 engines were farily prone to head gasket failure, the 3.0 engines were bullet proof but the 2.4's were never as good.
