mondeo 4x4 running gear into a fiesta?
mondeo 4x4 running gear in a mk 3 fez has been done by power crazy motorsport. Theres been rumours about him not aligning the rear end properly but if your doing the work yourself or paying them to do it you could avoid that happening with planning.
Dunno but sierra 4x4 stuff has.
Depends what fiesta you're talking about.
If mk1/2 pop over to the XRTWO.com forums. Theres a 4x4 cossie mk2 on there occasionally and plenty of RWD examples for inspiration on back ends. (ooerr...)

yes i know the transmission isnt very strong, but 250 bhp,in a very light fiesta mk3,will make a very cheap track car.
it has been done before in a mk3 fiesta, was in a fast ford mag i think
though the running gear isnt the strongest and transfer boxes break and you carnt get replacement parts i dont think

We have got the stuf to do a orion and I know of an escort with 450bhp on the mondeo stuf which he used to replace the rs2000 4x4 parts.

I wouldn't bother mate. Look at everyone who's run a turbo'd engine with that running gear. All you'll hear about is broken trasnfer boxes.
Alex recently built an RS2000 4x4 (same running gear) with a cvh turbo. Didn't last long before he was needing a transfer box
Rip all the mondeo stuff and give Martoon the shell to create Mond-Cos 2.

should be fine with a nasp car, but a turbo'd one may kill the transfer! I thought you wanted to do some quarters in it too?
Iirc, the mondeo was 66% power to the front, whereas the escort was 66 to the rear. I can't confirm that though, as i've never personally taken either apart.

the 1/4 specialist will be a different fiesta, but i will try the suspension mods i have planned on it.
The mondeo transfer box is actualy a lot stronger as tested in one of our escorts with 300bhp and like I said previously there is an escort in germany running 450bhp from a zetec turbo and with a cooler on the transfer box it has lasted very well so far.
I think you will find that the gearbox and transfer box of the mondeo are different to the escort stuf and as such are a lot stronger too, also the rear diff is different and as I am reliably informed very strong compared to the escort.

i have an rs2k 4x4 and as far as im aware they are meant to be able to handle no more than 180lbft of torque altough some may remember jason hodds red rs2k 4x4 which was running a 2.3 i4 turbo which was around 330bhp i think, and had no problems at all. his transfere box gave up when the new owner was trying to pull doughnuts from standstill at full revs
i fitted the mtx75 box to my mk2 fiesta, and bought the 4x4 running gear from a mondeo to fit this after i got the box etc in and running.
unfortunately it all got stolen before i had chance to even start though.....
it will go in fairly easily.

so have you fitted a zetec and mtx75 gearbox? what mods did you need to do.do you still have to cut the chassis?
I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!

thats a contradiction in terms...
either they are identical or differnt!
you can not have almost identical as by saying that then they are different....
i have a book here on the mtx75 4x4 and the torqu split is different for the mondeo and escort.
mondeo is more front split than the escort iirc

Good luck with the project mate it will be worthwhile.

they are very thin on the ground these days, so its blows, you could be screwed.
the mondeo 4x4 system is not the best, try using audi quattro from an old TT, much better lol
To be fair with that sort of power (which will be high up the rev range no doubt and probably lacking in torque up there) the transfer box will take pretty much what you throw at it I would imagine mate, plus the lighter the the car the less the stress will be on the running gear anyhow.
