I have a problem!
Sometimes when Im going to do some driving, the starter motor wont run. If I still have the ignition key in the starter position the starter motor will work after couple of seconds and sometimes it works immediatly.
Does anybody know why the starter is like this? It was the same on my xr3i -88.
There is no ignition relay on the S2?

The battery is new.
Its must be the starter because you all say its been cooked. Im very happy for your answeres, thanks all of you.
But once again, there is no ignition relay on the S2?

starters tend to cook being so close to the xuast downpipe - i have 3m of 50mm heatwrap wrapped around it , problem sorted
the bronze bush on the nose of the rotor also wears , causing the rotor to touch the stator , this gives you erratic starting , easy enough to fix though with a new bush
