Default 1st engine start up in ages

Basically my Sapphire Cosworth has been sat in the garage for 15 months and it hasn't been started once in that time!

I'm after advise on what I should do before I start it for the 1st time.

I'll be changing the oil, filter & plugs. I've got new belts except cam belt(would it be worth while regardless?) and changing the water/antifreeze.

Is there anything else I should change/replace as a matter of course?

Thanks in advance

Rand

I would get it running first, then change what you mention, plus fuel filter.
Before you put the new plugs in(old ones out) wind it over on the starter to get oil pressure up, when mine was sat it wouldn't build up, but starting up is okay as it will soon build after a second ot two and engine is not under load.
Just warm up on a fast idle as likely to be a bit grumpy to start with, especially with old fuel.

I'd change the cam belt too - better safe than sorry!

If like mine it might sound a bit tappety at first but will soon go after a good run, I was told that this is normal.

I know you have probably done it by now but this answer might stop someone else worrying.

it will rattle its bollocks off for a while mate!sometimes it can take a good few miles to get the lifters to shut up!as tabetha says remove spark plugs disconnect phase sensor and king lead to eliminate any chance of spark!then spin her over to get good oil pressure and give everything a nice coating!i tend to undo the turbo oil feed pipe from the turbo put it in a cup or something and crank it over until i see fresh oil coming out!then refit pipe crank over again to get turbo all nice and oiled!reconnect everything and fire up!

Also disconnect the fuel pump as the pump will still be trying to push fuel in while you are cranking it over,

Correct me someone if I'm wrong.
