once you get your old panel out you can compare the bolt holes and as needed use a small file to take out2-3 mm toward the glass the size of the holes and lugs does vary by a tiny amount as i have compared quite a few panels and on some i found that the front locating lug needs to have about 2mm filed off the bottom edge but once you sit your panel in the runners all will become clear,as for shaping the front edge to suit the contours of the roof on the first one i layed a piece of wood on the garage floor layed the panel over it at its centre point and applied pressure to the outer edges dont try to shape it all at once you dont want to over do it i had the panel in and out a few times checking bending checking the second one i done i got the panel against my knee and pulled it backwards using the same checking method .

Hi i have been looking at these instructions and maybe I am stupid but it makes no sense to me. I have a s2 with a rotten sunroof and i have bought a mk6 escort sunroof but the instructions make no sense the sunroof pan is spot welded in so no bolt holes to file out and the screw pattern of the rails is completely different to a s2 any advise would be much appreciated.
its JUST the glass you need, that fits to the mk4 escort running gear.
remove all you running gear, take off the glass, get you new mk6 glass, files the holes upwards towards the glass, fit to the mk4 running gear job done, i did it in a few hours, once you taking the glass out, then removed the running gear it will make sense, if not I'm in lincoln and can show you

if you are just swapping the glass over theres no need to even take the running gear out of your mk4. simply do as above and just remove the mk4 glass and replace with the mk6 glass. you need nothing else from the mk6 sunroof apart from the glass. as for shaping the mk6 glass to your roof it may need a slight tweak to look perfect. hope this helps
quite common for people to swap over the whole frame inc glass from a mk6 onto a S2 with very little modification as all S2 ones rot, I sell plenty of sunroof frames to S2 owners all the time and they all say its a easy to do upgrade
so the whole unit as one will fit straight in? interested to know what mods are needed to do this.
if you do a search here on passionford you will see this topic has been covered many times, with little more than a few holes widening/relocating etc ,sold 7 last year and one this week and all were bought by S2 owners fitting the whole frame inc glass and none had any bother
Sorry for dragging up an old thread, I need a sunroof for my mk5 J reg, I dont think its the sliding one I think it just tilts up, Can I use the glass from a mk6 then?
It’s the bending I’m confused by its glass?
I’ve just dropped in a mk6 glass
and yes it sits a few mm back and front lip is too high so plan to file it out soon so looks a neater fit
also my rubber looks small in the hole if ask my opinion not sure if rubbers are different, I still have my old glass and rubber
