as above what would you recommend without spending stupid amout of money

 

a s2 box if you dont want to go stupid money i guess, but you will keep replacing them as you get what you pay for sadly, im in the same boat but looking to go mtx75 over bernie box, but have to do it so save keep changing boxes

 

Standard rebuilt box will be ok if its treated ok, But who treats there car ok lol!

Will need an uprated clutch though.

cts stage 1 around 550 with ap 4 paddle 150

 

i have a helix paddle in there at the mo only done 500 miles so thats a good start i think,

 

I got mine from GearTorque will handle anything i throw at it, gets hard launches all the time. mines running 203bhp.

 

the one from geartorque, is that a stage 1 or std?

 

stage 1 ib5 has uprated ford lsd, uprated bearing and transmission, not bad for 500 quid i thought, will this be good for 200 plus brake

 

i got one from central axle services in birmingham. all they do is uprate the mainshaft bearing which is usually the problem for me. i put 1 recon and a second hand box in before this one and all three that went bang the mainshaft and bearing were shot.

 

Its just there uprated one, said it would easily handle 500bhp.
They do a full refurb one with bigger main bearings for £480 and the one i have is £900.

 

CTS Satge1 box from Bernie is more like £700 now and for 150 all you'll get is the paddle centre plate!
if you dont do hard launches a good condition standard box will cope fine with up to 220 bhp!! i know this cos i have been running a standard box with 230 bhp for the last 4 years!!
