Default Problems with laptop - vista related?

Got a new laptop a few months ago, and its got Vista installed. Now its ran fine for a couple of months but since the past few updates have installed the laptop is constantly running slow, freezing, and getting quite a few windows applications that have stopped working

Is there any way of removing the updates that have been installed and if so can someone help us? I dont want to start deleting stuff i dont know about and will it affect the laptop

Also any other ideas what will cause this other than above?

thanks

Sarah

Freezing and stopping are normaly down to the laptop overheating. I have a Fujitsu siemens amilo and it did it all the time. Solution, don't block the cooling holes and fan port.

As for applications not working, if there copies the microsoft have been putting stuff in to XP and Vista to stop them working but thats all i know.

If you look at update history you can remove them individually.
You can also go back to a restore date prior to the install date.
My lad has vista and it is way better than my xp, just uses more memory so I'm told.

Download NHC (Notebook hardware control) and install it, you can set it to have a cpu temperature monitor in your taskbar.

That'll tell you if it's overheating, it'll also warn you if the cpu tempos start getting high.

sounds like u have a virus. i had exact same symptoms albeit on a brand new desktop.

I had a trojan that i eventually got rid of and PC is now fine.

Run the one care scan, if you dont know how to do it just type one care scan into google and run the clean up and the protection.

I use Kaspersky, and do lots of "research" on porn sites, just to see what it's about!!
Never picked up a virus etc yet.

You'll be allowed to exercise your downgrade rights & install XP legally if you've got Vista you know mate!! Get in contact with your manufacturer of the laptop & ask the question!!

IIRC I think you can only do this with Vista Business, not the Home versions

My laptop does it quite a bit. If its sat on my lap (strangely enough), the cooling fan will start running all the time and there will be a noticeable drop in performance after a while, it'll get really hot on the bottom too.

It really needs to be sat on a table so it can have an airflow underneath it to keep it cool.

I also use avast antivirus, i used avg for a while, and i noticed it did interfere with other programmes. Avast is spot on!
