Hi there...
I found a set of wheels... And i would die to get theese on my little white S2.
The only problem (so I think??) is the with of the rims. They are 8x17" front and rear. Is it possible in the front with 60 mm lovering?
My wheelarches are all rolled up. So the clerance on the wings should be the least of my problems
Which offset and tyresize should i choose if its possible? I know there may be some rubbing on the inner wing when turning. But we have to make some sacrifices for the beauty

8x17", NO WAY!!
In my opinion 7x16" is the best size, but 7x17" as a maximum. Some people run 7.5x17", but I think is too much. OK, so it might look good, but it will drive like crap.
The arches just aren't big enough for 8" wide wheels, let alone with 60mm lowering!!

I know it will be difficult to get it to drive properly. But with poly's, adjustable tca's and dampers it will help a lot.
My question was "Will they fit, and what should the offset be"?
The arches doesen't get much wider he he

you want an offset between 35 and 40 on mk4 escorts i believe.
I had some 7x17 OZ Crono's on mine, offset 37 and they still caught the rear arches occasionally so 8x17's would be a nightmare to fit i'd imagine

Mine are 7.5x Azev A’s, my rs turbo has been lowered about 50m and does catch a bit if I do full lock and rubs a bit at the rear arches when I've got at least 2 people at the back and that's with hard suspension so in my opinion I wouldn't dare put 8x17 on.

What tyre size are you running?
You'll have a nightmare with this, trust me.
When I ran 7x17" ET35, the touched on the rear outer arches and the front inner arch. Ideally, they needed ET40 at the rear and ET30-35 on the front for my car. I now run 7X16" ET35 with 5mm spacers, giving an effective ET30 with absolutely no problems atall, but that said, I'm only lowered 25-30mm as I am more into how the car drives than how it looks.
However, the extra 1" of width those rims have is a MASSIVE amount to lose and at 60mm lowered, it's not going to happen. That's before you start thinking about the size of tyre you will need to run on an 8" rim. 235 section width I would say.
If you are insistent that you are going to try it, I would start with ET30 or ET35, because at least this can be corrected with spacers to push the wheels out further if need be.
Man, thats going to drive horribly. Mark my words.

Thanks a lot!!
...
I will try with a Et 35 then. It has to be possible he he
.
My arches are very modified. (And the skirts etc still fits like a glove)
.
I was also considering a Gaz Gold Coilover convertion. With this and adjustable tca's it should be possible to make it drivable.
Do you have other suggestions than the Gaz kit?

But i meant if there were any other coilover-kits avaliable than the Gaz coilovers
Cheers - Kasper
mef motorsport do a coilover kit but not as cheap as the gaz one but far superior in design and quality as all there stuff is and if you put coilovers on the back you can then put the adjustable rear bars on for ultimate handling
