Hi Peeps,

Got a Skoda Octavia VRS been mapped to 225, anyway supposed to be going away for my aniversary today in it, but the fooker has thrown a hissy fit.
Driving home last night steady away, come on to boost, car bogs down for some reason then starts to missfire like fook, was like eh!!...Engine managment light comes on then drive home sounding like a Scooby, light just flashes on dash, then goes off. But still missfires..
Hope its nowt expensive Could it be a plug or sumet????

Please help, need to get it running before 12 as setting off away for a few days..

Is it the earlier version (1.8 20v turbo) or the latest one (2.0 TFSI)?

If its the earlier one one i'll be pretty certain its gonna be a coil thats gone down.

As to which one it is, you would have to get the fault memory read via a code reader, or even better, skodas own diagnostic tool (VAS 50/51).

sounds like a coil problem...

Get it plugged onto a Vag-com at a local garage then get to your local GSF motorfactors and pick one up

Right guys, been outside, got piss wet through!!....All injectors firing correctly, found the problem to be missing on number 2, removed the plug wet through ...swapped pack number 2 to pack number one, no spark or anything switch them around sparking like a gud un. So must be down to the coil pack, as some of you guys have mentioned.
Spoke to a motor factors, not in stock tuesday earliest . But phoned mate who works for VW, hush hush wink wink, Ł20!! Get it half one today, two min fix (fingers crossed) Then off away for aniversarry, dont fancy going up coastal roads in a Corsa diesel, slow as fook..

Thanks for your replies guys just confirmed what i thought it was

there have been several revisions by bosch on these, maek sure you have the latest, and do not buy from a local motor factors, 99% of the non gen parts i have seen have caused ign faults.

you interested in selling bud-wies, the way it packed up on me was unreal, boost, then naff all, no power sounded like my old scooby. Thing is went to Manchester to watch jeremy kyle pmsl, went in my mates HSE Sport Range rover, glad it didnt pack in on motorway, just back from his house which is a 5 min drive.

The coil packs are known for failing on those so that was what I was going to suggest. My mate used to carry 2 spares in his because he used to drive it the ring and back every other weekend

Do OE ones have a skoda stamp on it ? My spare came in a white box, cant see any markings on it. Got it from a mech buddy of mine. Not sure where he got it.

Probably the single most popular problem on Octavia VRS!

Good job its an easy fix. Most people i know who use them daily usually have a spare new one in the car!

Put it this way, when we go to the ring next year, there'll probably be a box full in the spares kit!!!
