hi i have a very loud tapping noise coming from rocker cover iam using solid tappets and there not that old but me m8 filled car wid wrong oil an thats wen the noise started but i have taken them out an cleand them alll up but i still gett a tapping noise wen ever i but me foot on the pedal soon as i take me foooot of the tapping stops any elp on this pleasee


how do u clwan a tappet proble thanx or wat help can u give to stop this it got new oil an filter

 

solid lifter do make more niose than hydraulic ones, but not enought to be worried. Have you adjusted them correctly? Ive never used them but have been told that its a bit of an art to get the adjustments right. i may be wrong though, sorry im not much help :-(

 

if there solid tappets they may need re-adjusting/re-checking as i'm pretty sure you have to check them every so many miles.
are you sure there solid tappets and not hydrualic ones?? have you had them setup before?

 

Did we ever establish what cam this is with? I remember you posted before and I commented about putting Solids with a Hydraulic profile cam.

Sounds like its probably run the cam off.

I wish people realised that you can't just nail these things together. A CVH will gladly grab any excuse to destroy the cam and if anything was wrong, that's reason enough. If you saw the process I use to fit solids, you'd know I'm being serious.

 

running kent cam but wen me m8 had it the tappets u could never hear them that loud an ye there solid tappets i got them from Burtons 22quid each year ago

 

Quick tip that noise happend wen he used the wrong oil but now we have change it wid flter still same noise i have had the tappets out an wiped them over still the same

 

You can't just chuck solid lifters on a kent cam, have they been setup?
