Default help needed please on turbo

as above i got a small turbo escort cosworth and i notice that i was get smoke from vent when warm up plus header tank was going down so just thought it was a water pipe from header to turbo maybe leaking just check and it seem ok so watch the engine rev it a few times then where the pipe from header tank con u got this metal thing that cont to turbo is that where it leaking and can i fix or is it a big job

i wish i could understand that but i cant probably because you havent used any punctuation surely it would be easier to find where the smoke is coming from on start up first before you go replacing anything thats what i would do anyway hope that helps

it not smoke it steam as it the water from the header tank that go to turbo im hoping it a seal that go to turbo

is there some sort of seal on the chorm pipe as that where i think it leaking as the header tank cont to this

there just copper washers mate, sometimes its an easy job if the banjo fitting undo, best get the turbo hot then try to loosen them off, obviously take the rad cap off to stop the wather gushing out all over your hand

hi guys i change the washers where banjo fitting both of them but it stil piss out but not from them in the pic u see the turbo ,you see the brown thing,the wastegate i think but dont know what it call behind the bonjo fitting u see the nuts it leaking on the bottom one i tried to tight up but didnt more so is this a big job now

if you look at pic you can see turbo , i have change the washers on the banjo fittings as i thought it was leaking from them,but it seem it not like i said if you look at pic you can see the brown thing behind the banjo fittings ,there is six bolts i think one at the bottom is leaking can i tighten it up as i tried and it didnt move

if youve tried tightening it up and it didnt move then obviously its already tight.youre best bet is to take it to someone that knows what there doing as said above.By the way im not a scouser i live in wallasey witch is over the water from liverpool.

just but a banjo with a take off that accepts braided line and run that to the header tank.

hopefully this will help you out



where the banjo bolts are you can see its leaking, you need to replace these with copper washers and tighten them up, but may need to clean the ends so they seal properly onto the turbo core

now if iim rite in what yuou have said, ive marked the bolts you refer too

if these are the bolts then all that does is old the exhaust housing of the turbo onto the core, there is no water in the back part, if there is you will know about it as your exhaust will be chucking white smoke out and that would should the water seals have gone inside the turbo, but there not as theres no signs around those bolts to show a water leak

the only part that has water round it is the centre piece where those banjo pipes are bolted on

thank you alot m8 i have done the copper washers ,but it seem like it coming out of the bottom exhaust housing bolts any ideas

are you sure its wayer coming out and not oil

water would leave a white makr down there and oil would just look wet

just checked the banjo pipes and they are ok ,maybe the coppers washers wasnt thick enough so may need another one

i had this problem; have you got 2 copper washers on the water banjo to turbo? 1 each side?

they have to be really tight
