Default aqua-planing

anybody had any bad experiences?

fook me, i come close to losing it earlier ive still got brown stuff in me pants was only doing 40 on a dual carriageway too as it was fookin pissing it down and vision was shite......come to a slight dip in the road, next thing i know the back end was was out like id hit pure black ice, luckily enough the days of drifting in the sierra came into play and kept it in line really close, deep ditch and trees either side, probably would of been game over i bet them trees might see some paint later on though

.....right, im off to clean me y-fronts

Yeah, Coming down the A1 late at night, was finished from work and had to be home in an hour as I had a date, normally takes an hour 45 to do it too, so you can imagine the speeds I was doing.

Skipping two lanes on the section with no lights, and not knowing when your going to stop planing, is a bit brown panty. Needless to say, lesson learnt

Happened to me a few times, went into the back of someone at a roundbaout once because of it! Funnily enough I was in 3 different Fiesta's each time it happened! Feels bloody weird, and scary - not much you can do to stop once you start going!

I had an arguement with my mate once, he made me feel really thick as he said you CANNOT aqua-plane unless you're doing mre than a certain speed - sure he said 55mph!

Obviously never happened to him then........

Yea had it happen to me, i was going out one day doing about 70, hit the water, ass of the van stepped out, turned into the slide and just put my foot down, watched the speedo spool up to about 105 before i managed to straighten out and get grip again. Bit of brown pants mania that day.
Have to say, all the roads on the way home i can tell you exactly where all the puddles of water are and all the dips etc etc

lol, 2 different fiesta's and the third actually wasn't me driving.

Honestly never had an accident in all my driving years (touch wood), wasn't braking any harder than usual, wasn't doing 50mph either. Just remember losing control and feeling like I was on ice

55mph is rubbish, depends on lots of variables, fwd/rwd/weight/depth of water/ tread depth/tyre make/tyre width etc.

Quite, hit deep water and you're going to hit a brick wall, not aquaplane
