dont you wanna go with that quote you have from the engine builder who was going to be using eagle steel rods and je pistons then mate, theyre both unbeatable prices for what you get and theyre from the states, i think NEWTON on here is selling both for £500 ono complete.

think im going with powerconversions as long as the price is right. What i didnt think of is that the pistons that je use are for the 16v, meaninf the piston crown is shaped to accomodate the 4 valves as opposed to the 2 which my 8v head will have. Powerconversions are getting some new wossner pistons designed especially for zvh conversions which means the compression ratio should be there or there abouts reducing the risk of having to machine the pistons making them weaker. How can I find that other lad who is selling the rods n pistons??? im really interested in the rods

hi m8
i am running je pistons (meant for a 16v with valve cutouts) and eagle steel rods in my zvh the pistons can take a lot of abuse, rods arte very strong for the price..
sean
and did you mean eagle rods are strong or arnt strong

must check my spelling no the eagle rods are very strong just had my zvh rebuilt going to be running 30psi plus 100shot of nos for drag with a decent rev range once i pull my finger out........ i dont know if they effect the combustion burn to be honest, what are the tell tell signs?

autofloke with the rods and pistons combo on a 57cc cvh head the c/r works out at 8:5:1 so originallly i used a de-comp plate with a felpro head gasket, but i blew both the plate and head gasket at the PF daddy thrash 2004... i had my engine rebuilt last year with a lot of custom parts.. now i am running a sitech racing 2mm head gasket my c/r is 8:2:1 but stu at msd will soon be finishing off my map on 850cc injectors on a L8... are you having your car live mapped?

Thought about msd, but I cant see how you can properly live map a car on the road

autofloke zvh can work but you have to spend so much money your better off going full zetec unless youn have spent alot of money like me on your head.

pm me if you like i've got loads of info and pic

my head cost me nearly a grand, for the sake of 1100 - 1500 for a zvh I can argue with that. Full zetec means i have to get all sorts of bespoke parts such as manifolds, and they are a pig to work on in the engine bay so i believe But I may be wrong. Im still learning all this stuff, I think i would be comfortable working on a zvh as it would still be very similar to a cvh if that makes sense

same here i spent nearly a grand on my cvh head newman cam for you next i am running there phase4 zvh cam with standard springs, i was using pumaracing double valve spring system, but it was so heavy it actually stopped the engine from reving normal double valve springs are shite i was advised by newman to go for new standard springs.. i was a bit unsure bnow the engine wants to rev its tits off..

are you also using there solid lifteRS?
p.s. got my rs set up by msd, wouldnt let me in the garage to see what was going on or explain what they were doing, left me in the car park for 6.6 hours with not so much as a brew, it wasnt even stu who set the car up, when it was finished and was driving home, the power was all at the top end with loads of lag. This was all down to the cam not been dialed in correctly, it was dialed in once at static, but then not adjusted with the vernier. I didnt know this at the time but found out after I had spent my time and money. This put me off somewhat. It may have been a bad day for em or something :-(

Keep tabs on my website for the current progress,,,,, or lack of.lol
Try eagle from the US you need the have the right pin size thou , IE get the piston and rod set JE & eagle , got them for £680 to the door .
thats a good option but the pistons are for the 16v which means the crowns have the 4 valve cut outs, im going with pec h section rods and wossner pistons. The wossner pistons are specially designed for the zvh conversion and will be made to my desired compression ratio!!!! just gotta woulk out the exact ratio I need.
i dont know if there is anything wrong, all I know is that wossner are designing a piston especially for the zetec bottom end to mate with the 8v cilinder head. I would be lacking common sense if I was not to go for these dont you think???
I was asking before if it did make any difference having the 4 cut outs in respect to the characteristics of the combustion. I wouldnt of thought not but you never know, im still learning all this wngine stuff.lol
