Default boost presure

hello just fitted a boost gauge to my saff 4+4 cossie and was supprised that it only peaks at 10 psi ,its stage 1 with a t34 and standard blue injectors, dont know if its right or wrong really just seams a bit low to me. im going to get the car set up anyway but does anyone know what psi this spec should run at?

10 psi is near standard pressure. A stage one is usually about 14-16 psi I think. Mine peaks at 18 and holds 16.

if its stage one, surely he can just wind in the actuator rod a few turns?

Prob not a good idea without getting it checked - it may be a problem causing the low boost that will be made worse by diy'ing it.

but if the actuator rod has never been wound in that's surely why he's only getting standard boost pressure

ask whoever wrote the software what it should run, and make sure they tell you what base settings to use aswell.

dont guess, it may run std boost for a reason....you cant see what files are on the chip....

Check the T piece you got with the guage it may have a brass restrictor in it. I replaced the pipework and guage as well as the actuator on my last Sapph (Stage 3) and I set it to boost 23 peak and held 20 by the guage, as it was before, but it seemed to boost a lot stronger but I put it down to the new actuator. It also occasionally missed if it was under a lot of load in boost, so later that week I took it for a set up and noticed it wasnt dumping as loud, barely at all, we checked all the pipes on found a restrictor in the T piece and once another T was in place and tested the car it FLEW round to 36-38 psi. Could have been a very nasty experience if Id not checked that T piece.
