After getting a lappy from Daveyboy this afternoon, I managed to screw it somewhat (fuck knows what I did, but after installing software and setting it up the way I wanted all afternoon, I powered it down, turned it on half an hour later and it had completely reset itself! Right back to standard, options, settings, completed deleted the user account and wouldn't let me reinstall stuff again to get it back )

So, I resintalled XP Pro again.... Only to realise afterwards that I don't have the drivers and util disc, so the LAN port isn't working, the wireless isn't working, sounds, graphics chip etc etc....

I tried to download em from Dells site, but everytime I click download it thinks for a mo then gives the old "cannot display this page"

Anyone got a disc for a 1.4ghz D600 with the Intel PRO wireless 2100 3a miniPCI card?

Yeah I got one... Wel I'll have a look in work, but sure I have.

 

keep trying their website.

if that doesnt work go to the manufacturers own website for the bits.

ie intel 2100B wireless? www.intel.com
nvidia gfx? www.nvidia.com

etc. etc.

Right, thats the wireless card driver installed and working.... No idea what the other ones are tho (ie, I know the graphics chip is ATI but not which model/spec) so hopefully I can do it from the install new hardware thing and get windows to search the net for the correct drivers......

 

Right, slowly working through the drivers now - found the graphics chip, chipset, sound, ethernet and wifi drivers, so installed them and rebooting now...

Daveyboy is a hero and is gonna post me a drivers and util disc - top man

 

I'm fairly certain we've got some at work, if you get no joy elsewhere I'll send you one.
