Default Like SUPERMOTO'S?

here's my latest 2-fingered salute to the local trafficpolice:

Husky 570 SMR, fitted with:

- Leovince X3 full exhaust system
- Mikuni TMR 41 flatslide carb
- Wössner high compression piston
- TC Camshaft (Husky competition item)
- Ported head

It's a little bit naughty....

Like the proverbial shit of a shovel!

I prefer the black plastics with black wheels and blue anodised hubs and brakebits but hey...it's loud, it's rude and it's lethal so it'll do me fine!

Here is the special edition version - sexual .

Mike, the SXV is a nice bike BUT very unpractical on a daily basis...cold start often results in broken starters and lots of swearing as it won't start lol

Oh and 70 BHP is the same as mine then, as mine is over 60 bhp at the wheel

It's a pure trackbike to be honest.
Rev's like a banshee but very different character to a single so calls for different riding style, much smoother but that's not really the point of a SM is it?
Sounds nice though!

Do you still ride or...?

PMSL! That's a loooong time ago I saw one of those!

Back in the day it was THE bike to have, the fastest thing around!
I used to have a ZX10, the ZZR1100 came right after that.

Not exactly the best bike for the twisties but good on comfort and speed, would have thought you'd look for something more agile?
Try a Supermoto, lots of fun and cheap!

h and in the case of my Husky: on the overrun it sounds like full on ALS!!!
It's doesn't just pop...it pops and bangs continiously untill you're back on the throttle )

Got rid of the left grip and replaced it with a black one, ditched the bar-end mirror as well as the stickers on the tank and forklegs!

Sorted a few little niggles as well: throttleslide wasn't coming back down all the way so starting is much easier now, decompressionhandle was set too tight, sorted that as well.
Tonight I'll be fitting a new set of slicks (it's got intermediate up front now but that's crap as it feels like you've got a flat) and a smaller front sprocket (from 15-47 down to 14-47) so should be much better!

That's what I love about bikes: the small things make big differences!

Still fighting with the digidash though...got it all set up including 2-stage shiftlights (how bling lol) but at low revs it reads wrong even though at high revs it reads right?! WTF?

How does something like this compare to Yamaha R6's R1's and so on? Are they quicker?

Depends, in some instances they are quicker and in some they're not.

Upto say 60-70 MPH they''ll be quicker as the torque they deliver is instant and they're shortgeared but after that the longs legs of the supersport will enable it to catch up and eventually pass...having said that there are SM's that keep up uptill 100 MPH! All depends on power, gearing and riderabillity.

In slow/tight and medium corners the SM will be much quicker! Even on track it's pretty easy to keep up with supersports or overtake them as you can ride the most ridiculous lines with an SM.
It weighs 115 Kg's and is equiped with a stupendous brake so you tend to brake much much later than a supersport.

Ridingstyle is very different though, comes down to bodypositioning.
Instead of leaning over with the bike I tend to stay upright over the centre of gravity of the bike and push the bike away from me while cornering.
Also, you need to move around on the seat a lot to be able to lean the bike over far enough whilst staying upright yourself.

On a tight twisty track / B-road, yes. On anything with any long (150m or more) straights, no.

Oh, and if you want something that will easily keep up with a supersport upto silly speeds get yourself a Honda CR500 or Kawasaki KX500...in case of the latter 67.5 BHP straight out of the box...

KX has a smoother powerdelivery, the CR feels like being smacked in the face with a brick!

But if you really want to kill yourself get a 640 or even 700 cc 2-stroke single...

Nice bike that matey. Dont agree with the comment about KX and CR500's keeping up with sports bikes upto silly speeds though. The sports bike would be long gone! Unless it was on mud of course.

And an R1 or R6 would kill any supermoto at/from any speed as there just geared too low to compete. Totally different kind of bike though so not really meant as competition to a sports bike. There designed to be thrown around and mess around on, not to go 'fast'. Maybe they might keep up on a track around tight corners as you say, but anything else, and assuming equal rider skill, they would be made mince meat of imo.

I still want one myself, not an all out supermoto but maybe a WR 250/400/426/450.

I hate to piss on your parade but from standstill upto 60-70 MPH an SM will certainly keep up!

Silly speeds is 100 MPH on a SM by the way

To clear things up, this is how i see it. 0-60 is all down to the rider regardless of what bike it is. A quick supermoto may have a chance of keeping with an R6 upto say 60 for example, but after that, it'll be gone in no time. The problem is, not many seem to quote straight 0-60 times because of this very reason, its all down to the rider. they usually quote a range.

I believe the 0-60 times for the R6 is 2.8-3.1 seconds. A quick supermoto may very well have a similar time 0-60, but obviously nothing to compare to much after that. I bet the average rider couldnt get near the 2.8-3.1 0-60, just like people are often shocked when they do 0-60 runs in cars and come out with slower times than the factory figures.
