hi please can someone help me???? my s2 is doin my head in. its popping banging stalling it wont idle. changed sparkplugs,dizzy,metering unit etc etc. . . . still the same!!!!!!

 

Check for air leaks or your dip sticks not pushed back in properly !

Or oil filler cap,

igniton timing? most probably the cause especially if u have changed/moved the dizzy

sounds like it needs retarting a little bit, do u have a timing gun?

could also be a vacumn leak, but timing wd be my first point of call

 

hi. thanks for replying it went to a garage for a week the bloke was stumped. just affords was stumped. a r.a.c bloke was stumped!!!! im on the verge of stripping it. i only rebuilt it from a bare shell 4 months ago and it was running fine

 

what did you build the car from and what was the base car
check your fuel pressure, what fuel tank have you used

 

everything basically brand new on car. car was running fine til it started doing that. brand new rs rurbo fuel tank when i rebuilt car

 

was it a genuine ford tank

 

the car running fine until i had prob with fuel pumps burning out parked car up for a week then sorted which i think was a dodgy earth wire. then it just started popping banging no revs etc etc since then

 

yes it was a ford one

 

check all your boost pipes are on properly ,particularly the turbo to intercooler and check for split pipes

Is the pump constantly runnin while turning the engine over & while the engine's coughin & banging ??

check the mushroom breather, also check injectors are not leaking,check all air pipes, esp the one from metering unit to amal valve,

 

mine is doing the same i heard a gentle whistling whilst tryin to start it the other day, do u think thats an air leak?
