If I had to choose between Kent and Piper, I'd leave the standard one in.

I agree with Christian. I reckon they must have produced more RST cams than Ford ever did!! Because they last about 15 minutes

Newman cam with solid lifters. Do it once, do it right.

very true boys, ive just rebuilt my stage 3 rst with a brand new keny cvh34 (ahmed) cam, it lasted 700 miles during the running in period at sod all boost until one of the supposidly heavy duty cam followers decided to packing in and seize. On removal, 3 of the followers where shot and the seized one had completely ground the lobe off the cam. Kent sent a new one with followers right away free of charge but this didnt compensate for time lost removing/cleaning etc.

have only heard positive things about newmans, thats what im getting next!!!!!!

I had a friend of mine perform a ceremony with the last Piper cam I tried, it didn't work though.

I'm not a fan of some of Pipers profiles, but the Kent rs turbo cams are great - they dont wear prematurely if treated well (eg, proper run-in and good oil pressure).

i'm sorry but they do no matter how well you treat them some batches you may be lucky with and others you wont, kent cams profiles are excellent but the cam blanks are shite.
fit a newman cam they are not problematic like kent.. piper are not too bad but they have a limited range of decent profiles..

turboboss- no need to be sorry, it doesn't change my experience. I know Newman is flavour of the month on PF, but I can honestly say i've only ever seen a problem with a Kent CVH cam when mistreated.

Thats rubbish. My Kent cam was fitted to a brand new engine, run in to the letter and it still turned to shit after less than 500 miles. We had 3 in one month, all fitted by different people all let go in under 500 miles. Mine lasted the longest, but the worst one was gone in 200 miles.

But have you even checked it? Thats the thing with hydraulics, they will take up a certain amount of wear, but if the lobes are worn, you'll be losing performance and because it happens gradually, you may not even notice it.

My Kent went in under 2000 miles. Only fitted because my piper one broke. Answer? £60 standard one which is holding up fine and even feels more responsive.

I wetn through 3 285T2's in a year. God knows why, it felt so much better to drive when I put a standard cam back in.
