Default tyre sizes again !!

i have bought some wheels of the bay (16" mondy 5 spokes) but they are fitted with 205/55/16 tyres , 2 of which are new and 2 hardly worn so ideally want to keep them but am i going to get any rubbing issues ??

bear in mind its a 2dr estate that lowered 60mm !!! but ......... i got 205/40/17's on it with NO issues other than slightly rubbing on full lock

is there much difference in the overall size of the 2 tyres ?

opinions please and i haven't picked up the wheels yet before someone says just try them

You may well get slight rubbing with a 55 all depends on the offset of the wheel.

Overall diameter is 647.9mm for a 205/55/16

Overall diameter is 612.8mm for a 205/40/17

Standard overall diameter is 591mm for the 195/50/15

So, you'd be going waaaaaaay over with a 205/55/16. My Avensis uses this size of tyre, and they're HUGE!

These are great size information bits Rab,
I am setting up my suspension on my 3dr project but dont have any wheels / tyres for some time.
Do you know any more overall diameters ? especially for 17 / 18s with different profile tyres.
I am thinking 18" rims as wide as possible will be the rim I will go with. I am trimming 10mm of the wheel arch to allow wider tyres , lowering with coil overs and modifying the trailing arms to be adjustable so I get the right camber, toe in... I know what ride height I desire...

Any help you can give much appreciated...

I need some idea of tyre diameters to know what range of adjustment I will need and where to locate the centre of adjustment.

I found a forumlae to calculate overall height, interestingly enough each figure it calculates is 16mm less than your figures... I checked against the tyres on cars here and it seems correct...

the calc is diam*25.42 + 2*aspect/100*width
