a mate of mine at mrc tuning in banbury just took me out in his audi s4.its amazing.ive neva felt anything like it.it did a top speed run against an ultima (635bhp) couple of weeks ago.he hit 198 mph. go to www.vimeo.com then search for mrc s4.and watch the video,it leaves it standing after after the 0-60 sprint.gotta have a look

Audi turbos are pretty great machines but how did he manage to get upto 198mph with 530hp? Must of been a hell of a long road.

Yeah dougs atm mrc, there is a 3 page buyers guide showing it in this month practical performance car.

Nice car, i've been in it when it was at about 440bhp and was quick then, so smooth unlike a s2 which is more kick in the back, push you into the seat.

The guy who does the remapping at mrc - minhea is running one around the same sort of power when I last heard.

great cars these s4s for the money, tho hes spent a fair bit on that one

 

i thaught about buying one but opted for a 2.5tdi avant, low as fuk on coilovers and 18" 3.2 sport quattro TT wheels, had larger turbo fitted (from a 4.2tdi A8 if memory serves me right, or 3.7 cant remember which!) RS4 intercoolers (x2 with it being a v6 tdi) stainless exhaust with no boxes except cats, huge pipercross filter off my cossie, remapped ECU 2.2bar spike/1.9bar held runs 208bhp but 406lb/ft torque!!!!
through the 6sp box it makes for some quick acceleration off the line quattro style, 4800rpm max revs/governer drop the clutch and off we go, bye bye subaru or most other things actualy

car is for sale now though as i need a 400/600cc bike to commute to work, i hate to let the car go but needs must, my love of audi`s is far from over though!

Yep, it was at Brunters... thats where they run Vmax

Its not all about BHP.... these 2.7 V6 Bi-Turbo engines produce alot of torque... plenty enough for him to pull 198 at Brunters.

 

yeah it was at bruntingthorpe.all he did was take spoiler and wing mirrors off.the block is standard but the turbos are 2500 each,tubular manifold.custom maps different injectors etc.its says the spec on website. mrctuning.com theres couple videos on youtube aswell

They are very good on the top speed run's When I was last at brunters an S4 with 500 ish bhp did 176 from a standing start and not braking all that late really.

Wasn't really a quick car though, can't see it been that close to an ultima off the line.

Don't the Ultima's come with a range of engines?

Unless the 530 is ATW power, it could be looking at the boost it's running.

It has a lot to do with the S4 not having a lot of drag, there were some bigger bhp RS4's there that doug has tunned himself, but they could not match doug once his car was rolling. It is a beast and he really has spent a lot of time getting it right.

He tunned my S4 to 450 bhp that i have just sold and that was quick, only car i ever lost to was a porsche 997 turbo and even that was soooooo close, he just had the legs past 150mph on me

If the car's are the same and his is quicker at higher speed's his as more power. Pretty simple really.

Eh?? Dougs is a S4 not a RS4, so does not have big front and rear bumper and bulging arches and sills that obviously have a big effect at higher speeds

Torque has nothing to do with it.

For a start at 198mph he was doing something like 7k+ rev's tell me how much the torque the engine was making at that point? I can tell you for a fact the bhp is higher at that point

Ironically, torque seems to sell car's now and BHP is still winning races.

A f1 car has something like 250ft/lbs of torque. My next door neighbours 307 diesel probably produces about the same.

 

a mate of mine had a black rs4 wiv just a remap frm amd motorsport dwn south which took the car 2 415bhp and the torque was the same as the new lambo at the time (07) and by hell was it fast we hit 100mph in less then 12 sec or something like that and his mate had a modded s4 wiv the same spec has a standard rs4 and that was really fast was that thing sideways round roundbouts cheers sean2k

there where 2 s4 s at brunters with redline mag,should be in the next issue,they do pull really well off the line.the times where close to porkies 996 iirc.

 

The quickest did 60 in 4.21 and 100 in 9.63 the porka did 8.96 to 100. Both got beat by that poxy little civic though

 

that civic was 470 bhp.

doug did a show 2day .his s4 did 0-60 in the wet in 3.6 seconds and quarter mile in 11.8 seconds.wot a car.gona have to get one when finished with my cossie.
