Default Imported Series 1

Hi I have a imported series 1 from germany. The windscreen washer bottle sits in the engine bay ( not throught the wing like most of them) Just wondering if anyone has come across this, also where does it go??? Im in the middle of putting her back together after paint and I cant think where the bottle goes.

cheers

mine was throught the wing, the inner engine bay bottle sits where the neck would come through on the inner wheel arch cars. if that helps?

All S1 windscreen wash bottles are under the wing and only the filler-neck sits inside the bay...even on the non-UK cars. After all , they are the same car but with the battery & fuse box/ wiper motor the opposite way round. There's no room in the bay for the windscreen bottle due to the fuel filter and huge air filter box.
The early cars had room as the air filter sat on top of the engine.

I think you have an early car tbh mate and not a genuine S1 UNLESS the inner wing has been replaced and they haven't punched through the panel where it should sit and bought a 'bay tank' to fit instead. (?)
Get some pics up: visit www.photobucket.com and uplosd, then post the [img] link.

Could well be that they haven't put the proper holes in then.

Id aggree with that. Id check all your numbers on the car mate and makesure they aint been tampered with But as shawn said who ever done the restoration before you "might" have fitted the wrong inner wing but id deffo check all the numbers to see if they have been tampered with in anyway.

it is a genuine rs, i spoke to my mate who i had it off who done the inner wings and it does need a hole. he fitted a bay tank because his old tank had cracked and could not get a replacement part.

What's the original German plate Nick? Might have pics of the car.
good news if the wings have been changed but without the holes cut. Get them done & get a proper wash bottle fitted
