Default tax question

right then, the car tax for post 2001 cars is based on the emissions yes?

so what's to stop you from buying the most poverty spec version with the cheapest emissins band and then bolting in the biggest engine you can find?

because if there is nothing stopping you from doing that, i'm going to buy an st220 and a poverty spec 1.6 and swap them about

if you buy an expensive st, then buy a cheap snotter of a 1.6, you've still got the st shell you can flog on ebay and the 1.6 snotter bits you can weigh in, if you take a week to reshell the car it's going to save you money in the long term ins't it

and if you need any thing for the st you just give ford the reg number and sorted

alternativly, bolt in a massive 9 litre muscle car V8 and rwd a prius, that'll get the lentilists going banana's

just reshell one car into the other and vice versa

they are saying that the car is taxed on what it was producing emissions wise when it was first registered, so you can't change the engine to a smaller one as it won't change the tax bracket to make it cheaper so you make it bigger and beat the bastards at their own game

paying 1.6 road tax for the ST and the money you would make on the scrap vaule and bits covers the cost of buying the 1.6 in the first palce
