i have a usb lead
it's one of them ones that you would normally find inside of a computer so it's the femail socket bit
but because it's on the end of a lead it's not fixed to soemthing
is there a way to get it to be fixed to a panel so that i can just plug a usb stick into it like iwould if it were on the computer as per normal or will i have to put up with it dangling away in my feet?

ah ok i understand now, when you said "in" your computer, i was thinking literally in it, ie the connection to the motherboard.
anyway, they are useful just run it out the back of the computer, up and on to your desk then bluetak it in place, thats how i have it so i can plug stuff in right in front of me.
If you dont like that, then just pull the lead out and plug the USB stick straight in to the slot, doing away with the extension lead?! or am i missing something?

the lead is coming out of the back of the tv i've got fitted to the car, and seeing as it's got an sd card reader in another slot and it's touch screen and it's a head unit and all that other stuff, i wanted to put the usb slot somewher ein the dash where i could just plug stuff into it
unfortunatly there is only a few places i can put it and both of these have their own problems, in that i would need to cut out a large portion of the behind dash in which to mount it up
what i'm after is something that i would cut a hole in the dash, put a fixing into place, and then clip the usb in from the front so that it pushes back into the facisa, rather than plug it in from behind and then risk pushing it into the back of the dash
if only i hadn't taken the camera how with me
i'll get a picture up of what i would like to have done (in paint or soemthing) and then that should explain things better

Something like that, but I can't work out what's on the other side. You want a male A type on the back, and female A type on the front.
Google panel mount USB mate.
