it depends on which operator you're with, if you want the latest ones when theyre out you need to unbrand the phone

I tried to do this update before going to the ring a couple of weeks ago.

Thought I'd clear memory card and update, leaving loads of room for pics and
vids of the trip.

Re-booted phone and.......

















Start up failed, please contact supplier.

Ended up taking a crappy 2M camera.

 

Unbranded/reflashed mine today with v21.0.016.

I've been trying to do this all week, and keep getting an error while updating the software

just done this now, i'm on t-mobile so was still on v12! unbranded and gone to v21, no obvious differences as yet... time will tell.

 

Battery life is the biggest plus Fraser!

 

And the biggest pain in the arse - when sending a txt using predictive txt, pressing the down menu button no longer changes the character to the next in line.

 

i never had a problem with the battery life, always lasted about 3 days?! supose i dont have any friends to speak to

8gb uses different firmware, you may well be on the latest.

Other than that, try unbranding the phone (change the product code to a general nokia one), i know with mine it wouldn't let me update because i was with t mobile

download nokia software updater and just try it, there is some way of looking it up on the phone (summat like #0000#) but i can't remember

you only need nss to change the product code, then use the nokia software updater to do the rest. Do a search on here for n95 and there's links to 'how to's'
