Question Intercooler for my setup

Hi!

I just wanna ask intercooler advice for my setup:

-1600cvh turbo
-Kent cvh 35 camshaft + pulley
-Mongoose 2.5"
-31 actuator
-standard turbo
-EFI intake manifold & megasquirt managment

Planned 15 psi / 1.0 bar of boost.

What kind of intercooler do you recommend?
How about the s2 rst standard ic, how much boost it will handle?

ps. if you have ic for sale please pm for me.

As large as you can fit and single-pass..... and preferably cut a big hole in the front bumper to get as much air through to it as possible.

Standard intercooler will be fine for 180bhp / 14psi, as this is what im aiming for when i take my car to motorsport developments.

Pace double i.c is fine
Airtek double
Pace front mount
Airtek front mount
GRS front mount

Thanks for advice, GRS looks fine but i am worried about the cooling of the radiator, so i would choose some smaller but larger than the standard one. Pace double capacity looks nice..

I did read that the standard ic is restrictive in air flow, is that true?

Everything is restrictive, eventually. Std intercooler isn't even good enough for a Stg 1 chip - in anything other than winter air, 4/5th gear runs at 1 bar will see excessive ACT's and the ECU will start to pull timing to protect the engine (although, the turbo will get a hard time).

I am not a fan of GRS intercoolers. They are a crap fit, the twin-pass ones are very restrictive and every one I have seen has caused overheating problems (only real way to overcome that is to put the rad fans infront of the intercooler).

The nicest one i've seen and tested is the Pace one, but it's expensive (about £500 I think, with a new charge carrier etc).

I would not be concerned, ive got one and my bumpers not cut out, I also run anti-lag and nos and have never seen worrying temps for either water temps or act

full front mount is the only option imo i run a radtec intercooler on my s1 with the fans on the front of it with no cooling issues, just make sure ur rad is in good condition, u have a good 50/50 anti freeze mix and pref a cossie stat (makes the fans kick in earlier)

always try and go single pass although its maybe not always practical, we have had cars gain around 30bhp just by cutting twin pass tanks off and welding a bodged single pass system in, obviously with a developed i/c like the off the shelf ones the gains/losses wont be as bad and in my opinon single pass look so much better anyway!
