Hi all, just fitted a new fuel filter to my sapphire cos now i cant stop it leaking where the ends screw into the filter all connections are tight. Any ideas how i can stop it leaking.

 

these can be a royal bastard to seal!!!did u use old or new seals??

 

I used the old ones as i didn't get new ones with the new filter

 

ah ok might need new seals!although these can still leak!did u put the old seals in the exact same place?or did you swap them around???might be worth checking your pipes could be pitted and need a little clean up!

If they are the copper washers get them red hot with a torch - well away from the car of course, then when cool you refitt them and they make a new seal. Worked for me but some people use nylon ones I'm told? The banjos can also get a bit pitted and need replacing. Pain of a job!

 

had the exact same problem this weekend - could not get them to seal no matter what i did.

i ended up replacing both the banjo bolts - you can get them from any hydraulic place. i also got some steel washers which have a rubber insert. This worked a treat

 

had the same problem, I used old seals and leaked pretty bad just fit a new copper seal and it will be fine

 

The metal washers with a rubber insert are DOWTY WASHERS, these are NOT petrol resistant, unless specced as such.
The best way to reaneal old washer isheat up till red then drop in OLD engine oil, not leave to cool.
