You'll need a lot more than just throttlebodies to get a 1.6 sigma engine to 150+ bhp.

You can get damn close to that figure with just cams and standard inlet.

Yeah, righto. Put it on an engine dyno and if it makes over 145bhp, i'll pay for it.

It's hard work even with the 1.8 16V or the 2.0 16V to get them beyond 150 hp.

It needs to be a full race spec engine to get the 1.6 this far!

Blah Blah Blah

I can dig out at least 3 graphs with cars just running cams that are putting out between 140-150bhp.

Alright - not an engine dyno, but it WILL do it.

Fúck - how do you think the racing puma acheives it? It's a 1.7 with cams full exhaust and a different inlet?

Tell me I'm lying - afterall I've built quite a few Zetec-SE's now!

We're talking about the 1.6 Zetec-SE

Mine is nowhere near race spec. Neither is Al's - his is running cams, bodies, bigger exhaust valves and pushing 176bhp. (On track n road's rollers!)

The FRP took a lot of development work to get it to 160PS.. 'different inlet' is quite fundamental.

Listen - my own personally owned car and engine - a 1.6 Zetec-SE fitted with cams, 4-2-1, standard inlet and standard airbox made 149bhp 121lbs/ft.

Now, I'm not sure if you're calling me a liar or not, but as said I can quite happily drag out RR graphs from same spec engine, on lots of different rolling roads, showing between 140-150bhp.

As said, I've built more than enough Zetec-SE's now to know how much power then can produce!

P.S Know-it-all, have a look at this link

http://adac.24h-rennen.de/en/archive...ta-st-cup.html

Those cars use the Zetec-SE, they run single throttle body, and are pushing out 170ps.

YoungDan- there's no need to get insulting.. you've had your experience, i've had mine.. it isn't a competition..

That's great that they're getting 170PS from the 1.6 Sigma engine but nowhere on that page did it detail how they achieved it!

And your experiences were what exactly?

What Zetec-SE did you build? Or are you going off what your mate down the pub said?

I don't think it'd make any difference if I do detail what i've done or haven't done, you wouldn't accept it by the sounds of it

I think i'll leave this as I haven't done anything, don't know what i'm talking about and you're the guru of the Sigma. Hopefully that'll quieten this thread down

my brother in law has just had throttle bodies put on his 2.0 litre zetec with omex managment and he just got it back from torque of the devil and that only made 160bhp with A GOOD STRONG POWER CURVE , but with cams could make 20 bhp more so a 1.6 with just throttle boddies wont get no where near imho just do thee math ..

I'm not the guru of the Sigma - the person who I work with is.

This was posted by me, a year ago. The car had full exhaust and manifold, panel filter, std airbox, std inlet manifold, shawspeed cams, msd remap.

Just had the car on Ric Wood rolling road in Stockport, brother took it to a rr day..

149.9bhp and 124lbs/ft

Not bad considering it's still on standard limiter (6850?) and should rev to 7600rpm..

Yum.

Oh and for calibration, a standard ST Fiesta did 151bhp.. so it's there or there abouts
Graphs -

Mine made 129bhp with a set of SS4 cams and full exhaust.

Map was to shit as my piggyback chip didnt work. Building a similar spec'd engine, and I expect at least 145bhp.

before i say any thing i am not getting involved in the shit fight on this page (lol) but at my old place of employment we had a engine builder come in with one of these engines i cant remember if it was a 1.6 or 1.7 but they did come in for a dry sump kit as he was making 200 bhp but this had shed lots of cash spent on it

reason its so hard to beleive is because the right thing to do its just put a K&N on and a nice cherry bomb and you get 145bhp you see people never see money get spent on a puney little 1.6! UNTIL NOW! i have driven a genuine 171bhp at fly zetec-s on throttle bodys standard bottom end and they dont hang around! and i have also seen more than 4 ZS's with just cams a few hp off 150! its a fact the zetec-s is something else in the right hands!

Dan also builds the engines for the well respected kit car company who has allowed us to make our cars go like they do so if anyone should know then he is your man! over 200hp is acheiveable with forged internals
