as the title guys i want more chatter as oposed to the dump vale hiss.
i have a 4x4 sapph cossie runnig stage one turbo,360 and cut backs, dark greens-31 actuator,3bar map and a stainless steel.
question is running the car at 20psi is it a must i have a dump valve or can i just get rid of it.car dosent see track but often gets opened up on private race tracks
can somebody give me a definition on what causes chatter?
from what i think *i stand to be corrected*......without a dump valve, excess air cant escape, so forces its way back into the turbo causing the shaft to spin the way its not suppost to?

because the chatter sound is coming out from the air filter, if you still run the car with standard air filter and airbox it will be quietened by that set up compared to if you are running with a large induction kit.
so is it better (for the turbo) to be using a dump valve when running 19-20psi, i get some chatter on mine but was thinking of trying it without the DV to have a listen to more chatter
i dont think turbo stall is that detrimental to the life of the turbo. all cars chatter to some degree (even my Golf Gt tdi chatters), the cone filter has a larger surface area and is less restrictive, ie it doesnt damper the chatter noise like a standard set up.
obviously pushing 20 psi through will shorten the life anyway compared with standard boost. i say enjoy the chatter and when the turbo does pop its a good excuse to get a better one

ha..yeah this one is pretty new last one gave up the ghost
Get yourself a 16 year old skiprat, feed her some speed and 4 bottles of blue wkd and you'll have a lifetimes chatter in 1 night, and a blow job if your really unlucky
