Default playing 1080p

just thought i would see if anyone could help

ive downloaded the planet earth in 1080p(48gb)

the only program that will play it is VLC media player, the only problem is it keeps stuttering or pixalating, the audio is fine but every few seconds the video goes wonky

i was wondering if there are any other programs i could use instead or anything that can help

im running 2gb of ram and 2.8ghz AMD processor so im not sure if ive not got enough power

any help, links or suggestions are welcome!!

YOu can add the codex to media player or better still use media player classic. Ive had real issue when runing full 1080p via the PC seems to take huge amounts of processor power and i have a dual core 6500 intel!! The early codex didnt make use of the dual core so one processor would be maxed and the other doing nothing. The latest version has fixed this however.

Is that the whole series? As i recorded it off BBC HD and totals 110GB. It may have been recompressed. Don't bother using VLC, i've never managed to get it to play anything from BBC HD properly with it. I purchased a codec called CoreAVC which i use on media player classic and can play HD video very nicely.

Is the CPU a dual core processor? Even a low end AMD dual core can decode h.264 HD video easily with CoreAVC.
