harveys should be good its got all the bits for a good 0-60 time dont know about steve scotts never seen that go ? dosnt he keep breaking engines an boxes ?!
If we're including Ford's fitted with Cosworth engines, then surely Terry's mk2 escort is the fastest road car by a HUGE margin. Current best qtr is 10.0 @ 150+mph.

Exactly the car i was gonna mention!! fuckin thing is blistering!
I would say martoon is the quickest accelerating cossie in britain as was his old cossie but would say rod is the fastest top speed with out a doubt.
But there loads of very quick cars owt there now like ollies rs turbo there all quick in there own way
From what I recall of the figures.
Martin is same quicker than rods 0 to 60, same speed as rods to 0-120, slower to 0-150 slower 0-180, and so much slower 0-200 that rod can get up to 200 and then back down to 0 again while martin is still trying to get there.
So im not sure to what extent the fastest accelerating bit is true TBH mate, its only really the first 30 mph there is much difference really. as soon as the pair of them are out of first gear, its rod all the way.

Fucking hell, that is TRUELY awesome for a road car, hell that time would even be awesome on slicks, but in road trim its truely mindboggling!
We're hoping for some 9's at 160mph this year on slicks at the pod!
Edited to add that Terry also did 185mph in the mk2 at brunters before xmas!
180+at brunters is a very exclusive club to be in
Obviously a FAR ligther car than martins and rods, which is obviously why it accelerates so much quicker than they do with less power (well im assuming less power from it being so much slower at brunters) so probably not fair to this thread to compare it really, but that really does sound like a mental bit of kit, would love to bum a passenger ride in it one day
Chip, 185 is limted by its gearing, but still a great achievment from a mk2 escort.
Yes its certainly running less power than both rod and martin.
Likewise, our sunbeam running just 530bhp last year was hitting 140mph in 11.0secs on normal road tyres!!! ( I think this is still quicker than rods and martins?)
Terry lives in Cornwall, so I don't think he can be bothered with the drive to York, given that he is'nt bothered about TOTB. (He's specifically at qtr mile fan)
We are however entering with the sunbeam which is faster this year!
Rods only quarter I know of was 11.7, I dont know if thats his quickest or not but I do know its never done a 10.
530bhp in a stripped out sunbeam is probably a better power to weight ratio than rods or martins by quite a margin, shows how important weight is on the quarter.
What make and model tyres was the mk2 on to manage 10s, cause whatever it was, I want some on my car

I've spoken with your brother a few times; here in liverpool at aintree and at certain events, really friendly he is and such a nice car.
Chip, I can't remember which tyres terry has tried and which gave what results. All were in the 10's on both road and drag tyres however.
Sunbeam weighs in a 910kg giving us a power to weight ratio of 620bhp per tonne. I have never been in a car that has as much midrange acceleration as our sunbeam. 60 - 100mph is now down to 2 secs dead.
