2wd Sapph Recon Drive Shaft Issue after rear end resto???
Dear All,
Some of you may of seen my resto iv just done on the rear end of my 2wd Sapph this winter.
https://passionford.com/forum/showth...=143458&page=4
Just some back ground info before i explain the problem :
car is standard Apart from :
S/S Exhuast
Koni's front and back set half way.
Armet spring
and poly bushs not including rear trailing arm bushes.
This is the setup sold by Mike Rainbird.
I had my Drive Shafts Reconditioned.
first time i got them back(fitted about a month latter) there was no grease round the bearings and coupling area but they had greased in the Boot so i put some grease in the bearings......BUT on removing the shafts from the boxs i noticed the bearings had foolen out into the boot so i went about rebuilding them(weather i should of or not is another matter) anyway the outcome was 2 miles down the road on a test run the short shaft broke, so both shafts went back to the remanufactors, they came back repaired and my mate(a mechanic) helped me fit them for peace of mind......(hope your still with me).
well all seemed well untill 54miles later and a simaliar thing happened was changing from 2nd to 3rd on about half trotle in a striaght line, i removed the shaft yesterday evening and took it to my mate and he inspected it to find the shaft had just popped out so no damage it just needed putting back together and i will refit soon.
THE PROBLEM IS........
What am i missing there must be a reason it can pop out like that :
IE something is to short to long, or something to do with when and how the power works on the shafts.
im going to check the diff for oil which shouldnt be an issue.
Can anyone shed any light on this for us and offer even something for me to check????
Any help welcome cheers James(wanting to drive his cossie again).
