Hi was driving home from chelmsford in my mallard girl at 5 yesterday. just turning of to springfield to get fuel, and saw a really clean white cossie go buy. anyones on here. looked real nice.

whites defo my 2nd fav colour after black.

 

dunno whos that is but seen blue one with WRC kit round borham BP think it might have been the time attack one

 

was it standard and on an N plate?

 

duno, i was litterally just on slip road and happened to look over and saw it. was watching the car in front rather than trying to read a plate, sorry

im sure they must have seen me, as i was slowing and indicating as they passed tho

as said i didnt see the plate but it was megga clean, so more than likley you mate

yeh shame i just missed u. i often see saffs out and get the nod/wave/thumbs up. but never a escos. only when im driving one of my other cars and the cos owner things im a erratic psyco waving for no "apparant" reason

how long you had her mate?i to am born and bred essex.southend for 13 years then the rest in colchester. have you had other rs's? you may have seen my other cars about if you have been round here that long.

ive been to the rsoc meet at rovers tye colchester a few time when i had the S1, but to be honest, unless your in with the circle or jump on the table and announce who u are then its not much advantage.

Havnt been down to southend for years, i dare say the lads down there now wouldnt even know what an rst was these days?

My mates into his vdubs, and they meet once a month in a multistory carpark. its all legit, not like a bunch of knobs doing burn outs in mattalan carpark.

tis a nice small group, where the emphasis is purley checking out eachothers cars.

dont think theres anything around for fords like that?

 

Hey lee take it ya fixed the prob with the car, what was it in the end ?

 

plenty of rs turbos and rs cars in general up southend mate last time i went and there is a ford auto jumble/show at the battlesbridge antique center this sunday i belive.

 

Well it was the head gasket. The fan circuit was so corroded, it cant have worked for at least 3-4 years. the engine obviously ran hot a few times and poped the gasket. Also the thermostat was dead.

it began the 5th day i had it, i left it running for 15 mins when i went to my mums to show the my new toy, and the rad blew a hole.

turns out pistons 3 and 4 were blowing into the cooling system/ pressurising the tank and rad.

anyway my mate is a ford technitian, and grew up on yb's in his apprentiship, so knew the engines well.

we had the head skimmed and pressure tested for 2 days. as he was scared it may have a crack. but after an xray as well, all turned out fine.

new standard rad, fan switch, cometic group a head gasket, bolts, rocker gasket, thermostat. now it runs sweet as a nut. all the engines my mate has ever built up feel so bullet proof, he really knows his stuff.

the car is still hunting slightly when warm, iscv is working fine so i have this down to tps switch or it may just be it needs a good tune up. but im getting there. i also want to get a new lambada/hego sensor. just to be happy.

its good to finally drive it, as it costs me Ł200 a month insurance and tax just sitting there.

oh yeh, i went there a few years back, lots of mk1+2 parts and cortina bits mostly. hum i may pay a visit if i have time.

thing is with south end, you just do laps with all the 17 year olds in their saxos, and if you move on to basildon later, unless you parked up eating a mcd's or racing illegally on the business estate with scoobies then theres no point.

was thinking something smaller like the rsoc local size. but somwhere neutral, where the emphasis in on the car, not in a pub drinking beer. ie like my mates carpark gang.

think the biggest problem it the thuggery immage fords have. i bought my escos cos ive always dremt of one, i love the look and the pedigree of it, i didnt buy it to do burnouts and got 120mph down the dual carrigeway!

 

If it was Mallard Green then it would have been Maria, surely ?

well i guess so, thinking of selling it in a month or two. it has always been my dream car, and im so happy that i managed to get hold of one.

my fatherin law says "its better to traver than to arrive", and i think maby he has a point.

im more of a restorer than a driver, in fact all my cars ive spent about 2-3 years restoring then when theyre done i get bored and sell them
mostly cos theyre too clean to drive

the cossie is so nice, but im still left with that hunger to get the grinder and welder out and build something.

 

I've had the White one about 2 years, the Mallard one I had for about 3 years, before that I had a minty mint RS2000 2wd in Petrol Blue, and before that I had an Ebony Black S2 which I loved!!! but I've also had a host of other Escorts including 2 XR3i's and 2 GTi's.

There are a few of us gonna try to go to the next Kent Meet at Brands, it would be good to see some of the Essex Cossie's there if anyone fancies it!!

It's a really cool venue and if the weather's good it'll be spot on!!

that is my birds brothers old car now owned by a lad called matt and is still in witham. it used to have a private plate MOV3 IT.it is a very good cos and took him a long time to find one this genuine its the 3rd one he owned so he knew what to look for

lee,the essex rsoc meet at the halfway house tonight on the a127 at brentwood.it maybe a pub but the car park is big and its always full.theres a good amount of peeople there just for the cars rather than the beer
i rarely bother with the colchester meet.its dead and sometimes cliquey
