running hot??
hi there my s2 is running hot, when im going steady down the motorway it sits at about half way on the gauge and when i stop or get in trafic it shoots up to just below the red.
i was thinking the rad was blocked as its not overheating.... what you recon?

Hey chap, just a thought. It could be an airlock in the cooling system, as I had a similar problem on a fiesta. Have you had any leaks recently? Or replaced any components to do with the cooling? This could have introduced air into the system. Pm me if you want any more advice about it
Do you not just think this is normal for the car? Whilst going down the motorway you are getting cool air over the rad, keeping temps down. As soon as you stop you lose the cooling ram air and so the heat-soak increases temps.
You know the fan works fine so imo it's just the lack of cooling air which makes the gauge move up.
For peace of mind you could fit a fan over-ride switch inside the car so as you slow down you can switch the fan on at a time/ temp that suits you keeping overall temps down.
