Hi...
Bought a Mondeo nearly 2 years ago, and it drove "cold"... changed the thermostat, and the car became very hot, not boiling, but very hot (3/4 scale)
I then changed ther waterpump with a new one 8metal impellas)... but the old one was as new! The engine still got hot, and I thought the new thermostat was faulty, and I changed it once again... still the same. the fans kicks in when almost "medium" warm but is can cool it dont to cut the fans again (in other words they run constant) and cant cool down if rise the speed to get more air trough the radiator.
Can it be crappy thermostat (triscan 88 degree) or is it a common problem with these engines???
Radiator is relativly new.
Lost of coolant in the header. Coolant is nice and clean, and the los of water is extremely little.

your better off using a genuine ford part thermostat. i never like the "pattern" ones.
mondy v6's are prone to overheating.
try thoroughly flushing and back flushing the cooling system and radiator.
are you sure both fans are kicking in? they are notorious for seizing the fans.
otherwise, are you sure the temp sender is accurate and that the car is really overheating? when the temp guage needle rises high, do you experience bubbling and steaming from the header tank?
or it could be head gasket failure. i'd try the above, then get the heads pressure tested.

BOTH fans can move, allthough I havent checked if both kick in.. it seems like it though.
NO. very hot engine smells.. no steam, no bubbling
I have been advised as you say (as it is a Mondeo24V) to get a FORD termostat and temp.gauge sensor to fit, to ensure they match.
Will check everything once more
Thanks
