Default GTA 4 froze up my ps3

my ps3 has never done this before due to lack of use. but the game screen has frozen 3 times in 4 hours playing the single player game

the only way to resolve it was to turn off the ps3. by the main power button

has anybody else had this problem yet..fancy a multiplayer game later on

what rockstar says about it

Disaster! Panic! One of the biggest releases of the year and people are having problems? That almost never happens. Sometimes. Reports are coming in of Grand Theft Auto IV freezing during, and just after, the opening cutscene. Weirdly, anecdotal evidence is revealing that the issue seems to be exclusive to the 60GB version of the PS3. How frustrating!

Don't worry, there's a fix. Rockstar has stated that simply deleting your game data and then reinstalling will fix the issue. So if you're being plagued this particular bug then give that a go and see what happens. If it works, let us know. If it doesn't, then let us know that too. If you can keep the tears back long enough to type out a comment, that is.

THANKS FOR YOUR MONEY

This seems to be a problem with some of the 60GB PS3.....AND 360's too!

Apparently they're working round the clock to find and fix the fault.

Is it still freezing mate? As I found this on another site..

"Think I've solved the problem!!!

Found it on a quiet little gaming site after searching all day. Wipe out your save data (including the auto save) and the installed game data. Switch off the console and disconnect the power as well. Then restart as normal but DON'T connect to the internet. Install the game as before , making sure you're not net connected...this seems to be the source of the corrupt install file as I noticed when I did it the last 3 time sthat my router was going haywire with PS3 traffic. I also made sure the autosave feature in the game is also disabled as this was recommended as well. Just had it on 4 hours and not a single crash or even a stutter in the frame rate! Superb!!!"
