Screen Washer Bottle

Im sure it should bolt in the way i said (even the manual shows it there) as i thought it was only the cab's,xr3's and rs1600's that had the bottle in the bay. I thought they moved the bottle in the S1 due to the air box being there
the manual says it might be this bottle. im looks like it goes in the bay just by the shape of it. but i cant remember how it fits in. some pics would be good if anyone has this
its just a square bottle with no nuck, then coming off it you have water pipe which goes to a small red motor. coming out of the motor is your feed to the jets, i also have two green cables going into my passanger wheel arch through a grommet which have been cut????
i converted my 3i to turbo running gear, they sit on the wheel arch, but if u want you just have to drill a hole and change the bottle,,hope this helpes ,,im doin mine when i get the chance
Okay, enough of the guessing.
Pre 1987, Escort MK3 and MK4 cars have the washer bottle on the nearside wing. It is a squarish bottle with an outlet for the pump near the front of the car. It is held on with 2 Phillips screws to the inner wing.
On later (post 1987) cars, the bottle fits inside the inner wing and the neck extends through a pre-made hole into the engine compartment. This co-incides with the time that Ford decided to fit front arch-liners to their Escort models.
The bottle was also changed in 1989 (90-spec motors) to allow for the EFi models to have their coolant expansion bottles on the same side. Using the 1987-1989 bottle, this would prevent the 2 items locating securely, so the neck and fitting holes were altered slightly.
Pre 1987 (MK3 and MK4 locate the same)

Hope this helps....

The squisher bottle which came off is square, without a slopped bottom which runs on the inner wing. How does the bottle attach on???? if i cant get it to fit ill get my mate to make a new bottle. he is a fabricator. Cheers for the photo.
Sounds like you have a pre 1983 model washer bottle. These bolted to the inner wing down by the chassis leg using a bracket that bolted to the wing first, then the bottle slid into the aforementioned bracket. They were only fitted to the models with 2 bolts on the front suspension top mounts. A B-reg should have single-bolt front suspension and the bottle as fitted to the Blue car.
