Default Advise required on purchasing a 1995 Ford Escort RS2000 4x4

Hi,

I am looking for some advise on purchasing a 1995 Ford Escort RS2000 4x4. This car has 58,000 miles and is black in colour? What should i look out for, other than rust in usual areas including wheel arch areas?
How do I check if 4x4 system is working on the car?
How many of these cars was manufactured in black in 4x4?
Does anyone know vin plate for this model?

Thanks for that info.

How do I check if 4x4 system is working on the car? It is true that if you jack up both wheels on 1 side of the car at the same time, turn rear wheel with hand, then front wheel will turn at the same time?
