could well do - it will also whine when put under loading aswell - say you corner left, the right wheel bearing are taking the load more than the left, therefore a failed unit on the right would whine.

when the offside rear bearing went on mine, could hear a whinind and knocking aswell

Yeah i remember when i bearing went before it made a hell of a noise! Might jack the car up AGIAN and see what it looks like. When i turn left i can hear a quite grinding noise so i wonder if thats it

Hmm worth checking i suppose.

Cheers for your help mate, i will get this problem sorted

the grinding coming from the front or rear? sounds suspiciously like a wheel bearing to me

defo sounds like a bearing

last one cost me 32 quid from a motorfactors but that was compelte kit - dist seals, bearings and tapers + big nut

if you get one from ford, but a nut from elsewhere - have had problems with the standard ford nut working loose even after hitting the lip into the keyway with a drift

2wd front bearings are differant m8 - rear ones are the same IIRC

front ones are a piece of cake to change - the rear ones can be an arse to undo the big nut, but once thats off they fall out easily
