badcompany,

Are you saying that the Scooby that flashed him in the middle lane was an unmarked police car??? And then pulled him over at 101 MPH for speeding??

if so, then thats classed as entrapment and would be an extremely good defence in court - was there a videotape? if so, and it clearly shows the headlights of the unmarked policecar been flashed to let your mate out and then giving chase then i would think that the evidence is classed as inadmissible.

even if it was a marked vehicle, then it is still classed as entrapment as it is enticing you to speed to overtake, which in itself, speeding to overtake is not illegal providing it is done safely and you return to the highway limit or below (not sure how that ruling works in 30mph zones, but i'm confident its correct for de-resitrcted zones)

speeding is always illegal, overtaking or not!
he wont get banned for 101mph, prob get 6points and a fine of around £300
flashing your lights to someone isnt entrapment at all, according to law, flashing your lights to someone is to show that you are there , thats all, so the copper just highlighted he was present on the road by flashin his lights so ya mate aint got a leg to stand on, shit luck but thats life unfortunately.
tell himto lube up coz the court will shaft him

Graceland,

Trouble is the police will flash someone who sits in the centre lane - simlpy to get then to move over to the inside lane (if the inside lane is empty).....Not saying that this is what happened to badcompanys mate....BUT I have seen this on the M5 motorway, a traffic police Volvo flashing head lights at middle lane straddlers......meaning "get over".

So the cop car flashed him out the way/into his lane yeah? Right, the police car then proceeded to sit on his bumper till he was suitably over the limit to get a big fine/ban or basically be in bog trouble. What is wrong with the fecking police??? Can they not just wait for him to get up to 75 or so, pull him over, give him a producer and a talking to and let him get on his way safely? NO they have to get the fine because thats all they give a monkeys about. SAFETY??? Safety my aRSe, they let you speed then nick you rather than take measures to prevent speeding.
Those signs that flash at you in villages are top notch, they make you slow down rather than just nick you for speeding, why not have a warning sign FOLLOWED by a speed camera? Im not condoning speeding i just think the police are tackling it wrong.
