Ouch think thats going to be steep, Dont you have any NCB?

Im 21 and Pay Ł1100 tpft on an e36 m3 vert through the AA, with 2yrs NCB and 6 Points..

Convertibles are quite a bit more to insure....

Try Proformace direct and HIC..

i want to be second driver
Often insurers pick up on the second driver being the real driver (they're wise to all the 'tricks' people try) so it may not make it any cheaper. Try Adrian Flux but no where's going be cheap on that car at your age mate, especially with no ncb!

Might be worth ringing a couple first before giving up on the idea though... Just to see what it would be!

Best quote so far is Ł,4,782 for the convertible

Its cheaper to insure a range rover at Ł3,900

Anymore ideas

I interpret his posts as he's about to buy the car, but is checking he can insure it first.

I can buy the car no problem, i know insurance is important however i really cant jusify paying 4k and above on insurance, yeh 19 and a 57 plate bmw is high risk however nearly 5k insurance is a piss take.

If i wanted to i can i paid 3k for a 318 and 17 when i passed

Seriously though, why not buy a smaller engined older car that you can insure and then build up your own NCB, THEN buy the big beemers? if your going to be stuck on your parents insurance you wont build up any at all and when it comes to having your own policy in years to come it will still be high because your starting with nothing.

Fair point i guess

On a serious note, i just really want a higher engined car, i have a 04 318 convertible right now. Obviously everyone wants cheaper insurance but come on 5k is rediculous, once im slightly older earning more il pay the higher insurance for knwo i want it slightly cheaper.

So anyone got any recommendations who to try ???

I dont think you will get reputable insurance cover at Ł3000, I am 28, full NCB of 10year+ fully clean licence and I got quote Ł660 for a 57 2007 325m sport cabrio. I personally dont think Ł4000 for an inexperienced driver, is to much for insurance on a Ł25,000+ car to be honest.

Your age is the killer, your only real options are to get a lesser model motor or get bummed financially by the insurance.

Why is it rediculous i can afford the car so i want it fella, i know my age is a killer and people will think its too fast etc etc

It's like when im goine to buy the car just becuase i can afford it at Ł3?000 doesnt mean im not going to haggle for it so its the same when it comes to insurance mate

One of my mates who's going to be 21 soon has just got a range rover sport tdv8 for 3k a year but hes older

Im not trying to be a knob or brag about money just asking for insurance advise please dont come along telling me its ridiculous to buy a car i want

Why not buy a Ł25000 version and use your spare Ł5000 towards your next 2 years insurance. What about a 320 msport?

If you can afford to spunk 30k+ on a motor and justify it, I fail to see why you can not justify spending 3k on getting insurance.

just seems a little bizzar to me
