So it runs about 4 in of Vacuum with the engine off??

That's a cheap gauge.

There is no concrete answer as to how much vacuum it will run, depends on so many things (such as engine condition), but with a gauge like that as long as it's showing some vacuum, thats about as much as you can hope for.

Does it run any more vacuum when you change the colour??

It doesn't matter what it is meant to show because being there you will never see it anyway!

the guage was with the car and was rattling about behind the dash as the previous owned didnt want it on show. i dont want it behind the dash incase it comes off or knocks a wire out.. so there will do (even tho its not ideal it will do for the mot) i need a new surround to make a new holder in the speedo surround and yes it will be a better guage.. thinking the ford racing ones maby .. are they any good? any help would be great cheers

I think you will find the boost gauge has to be clearly in the drivers field of vision to pass the mot

The MOT stipulates where your boost gauge has to go? Really??

Yeah, it has to be within 90° radius of the forward facing view of the drivers unobscured forward position.

not literally for the mot all you lot (fuckin hell you all pick fault with how its said dont you!!) i cant be arsed with a rattle behind the dash..end of the day i dont like the guage but its fitted and it will be there for the next week or so as its secure until i order my guage holder to replace the heater vents in the centre. (roll on pay day to get a decent guage inplace too!! anyone recomend any?)

I have a Siemens VDO gauge :

I think it matches the RST dash quite well. Plus at a recent rolling road, I had the guy check the gauge against the readings on the computer, and it was spot on. Can't argue with that, £45 though, depends on your taste, just steer clear of anything sold in Motor World and you should be OK!

Not sure if you can still get the Nomad one. That was always a good/cheap option.

What gauges do you use christian?

I'm changing my gauges soon, i was going to go for the ford racing 1's but would they be accurate? or would you recommend and the defi 1's?
