Default mis-firing three door, getting desperate now

hi guys, my mate bought a 3 door cosworth a few weeks back with a new engine waiting to be fitted.engine spec(low comp 7.5 to 1, ported head,bd 14 cams,t4 turbo greys)i got in in and running with no problems but when you start to lift the revs towards 2k-3k it appears to have a flat spot and the engine starts to misfire.
so far i have changed plugs,leads,rotor arm,dizzy cap,water temp sensor,air temp sensor,crank sensor,phase sensor x2,ecu and fuel pressure regulator.
i got it running on a standard map sensor and level 6 ecu with a stage 2 chip on yellow injectors(fleshy cleaned).my mate is now on the verge of slitting his wrists and i dont think i can cope with a suicide on my hands
any ideas chaps?

have u got the phase sensor and crankshaft sensor connectors the wrong way round?pretty sure these fit each other?although think this would cos a non-start problem but might be worth a check?sure someone else will confirm this

starts fine, ticks over okay, soon as you try to lift the revs it goes into a flatspot and then starts to miss, keep lifting the throttle and it will clear
