....just a point i'd like to make re all this top speed/bhp/how fast etc etc...would you do it if a forum like this didnt exist?..Trade would yes as it good for there business but would Jo public?..NOPE...so i say its all for attension..yes you harp on i am guilty of this..but i only use on the road and i never talk about my merc or f-car as it causes friction...but i realised modding cars to go fast to impress a BB is stupid....

company demonstrators would still be built but not as widely known as they are due to the internet.
i dont build my projects to impress internet nobodies but because i like fiddling and doing something different and for fun.it keeps me out of trouble. in fact i had my first cossie conversion done on a rwd celica long before id even bought my first pc.
its not about being the first or the fasest although i think i can safely say i had the first cossie powered e30 touring in the country

of course I fucking would!!!
How much of a fucking lowlife must you be to mod your car just so you can come onto the wonderful passionford and boast about ooooooh look everyone I have a bigger turbo, yeaahhhhh what you all think about that one??? I must be the daddy now, look how cool I am!
I do it for the sheer satisfaction and pure love and passion for performance and looks. I do mods SOLELY to satisfy myself and that is the ONLY reason I choose to mod my car.
LOL @ the thought of people modding their cars just to boast about it on passionford and even bigger LOOOOL @ people that it falls true for

Of course some do go further due to the internet, without it they wouldn't be aware of many things, and be happy with what they've got.
Question is a lot more complex than some appreciate I feel.

Of course they would, some maybe not, but most i'd say would still do it. The internet only makes it easier and more interesting.
Why do you wear the clothes that you do?
Why do you own the car/s that you do?
IMO its all for self-satisfaction? Why do you own an old ferrari and an old Merc and a couple of bikes why dont you sell up and buy one really nice car? Probably because you enjoy the satisfaction you get from owning each car.
As for Rod, i have always assumed he is a wealthy retired fella who still gets a good thrill from going fast and/or being tha fastest, nothing to do with showing off on the internet at all, in my opinion.

He's been doing it for a long time and before the internet was even a twinkle in the eye of a Commodore 64.
In fact, if you go to the national archives in Kew, there's a picture of someone that looks like Rod breaking the 20mph record in a Steam engine.
Could have been Mickey Rooney though.
