Just fitted a poly diff mount to my sapph and its got me thinking - is it worth polybushing the rear of the car? At the moment i have standard Ford bushes along with a Collins beam tightening kit. I've read somewhere there are bushes you want to leave standard, also I've seen solid beam mounts...

What bushes should I change? I don't mind a bit more road noise/harshness!

 

I believe it is the general consensus that everything except the rear trailing arms should be done but I have no personal experinece.

It's another job on my long list to do.

I always do ALL the bushes, and have yet to find a downside, even when doing the arm bushes, I have also yet to see any of the mythical bearings bushes on cossies.
EVERY car I have done them on has been more comfortable, and better response etc.

i have been told NO WAY to change the trailing arm bushes to polys! im fucked at the minute as my arms are powder coated and need them back on the car!! everything else there ready to go on as well!

 

Hi, From personal experience, i have poly bushed the trailing arms and not the main beam bushes, just replaced them with new standard ones. I have found the car to be tighter in the back, used to have poly bushes in the main beam to car and there was a noticable rise in road noise.

I have had my rear arms and beam poweder coated, looks the cats ass, if you want to put new ford beam bushes in i got mine from Ford parts Uk the NCC £16 each. You will need a length of strong non metalic cord to wrap round the top lip so you can pull it over the top of the beam, much like fitting a windscreen with cord. 10 mins per side once you have it all greased up and in posision.

Best road set up is:

Escos beam mounts (slightly stiffer) or solid alloy ones (pm me if interested as i make them )

Standard diff mount

Standard Ford bearing/bushes in the trailing arms


As mentioned above, don't fit poly bushes to trailing arms .

Noise Vibration Harshness, a term commonly used by manufacturers.
I have NEVER had any NVH problems with poly on ANY car EVER, of ANY make.
To suggest that POLY is better at transmitting NVH than a METAL bearing!!
