yeah they are relatively reliable up to 200. you can tune them a lot further than that but it costs and you sacrifice a little reliability!

i am currently doing this,
I bought a 1989 RS 61k 2 owners,
and have done the following
New cambelt
Piper 285 cam
Verneir pully
New tappets
New stem seals
Full zosrt and filter
Stripped the inside
fitted a half cage
harnesses, sorted dash
bought and pre-fitted gauges
cossie2wd cooler
new alternator
cossie fan switch and overide
oil cooler
prepping a cossie bumper as well to take the coolers
stickered half the car up

Just got my adjustable suspension yesterday
gotta fit my grooved discs
gotta fit the cossie cappilers and do a rear disc conversion
polybush the car
and rear strut brace (if i can find one)

I was gonna junk the engine, but after getting good advice from hear froms Nutsrus basically I am going for mild power and gonna make sure it handles and stops and then i learn to properly cane the car through the track once i have this mastered i can go for more power cos big power is no good if you
A) cant stop
b) can handle
c) cant control the car on the track

i hope this helps

Ditch all the interior
Buy some good brakes
Buy a bucket seat
Buy a harness
Buy some decent suspension (billies etc.) and bushes (poly)
Leave the engine standard for a while.

Its surprising how well it can go just by doing these simple things.

Why would anyone want to track an escort ?

Gra if you only have those 5 jobs left to do you could have it all done by tomorrow afternoon

As above, concentrate on safety, stopping, and handling BEFORE even thinking about lifting the bonnet and looking at the engine.
